Pikku-Pallero on ihan sekaisin. Vissiin liikaa tapahtumia samanaikaisesti. Juoksu tosiaan alkoi mutta sitä ennen alkanut pissatulehdus ei ottanut ja lähtenyt pois yhdellä kuurilla, joten toista on nyt kehissä. Antibiootti vielä laittaa koiran pissaamaan normaalia enemmän ja kaiken lisäksi myös tuo juoksu tekee sitä niin mikäs sen hauskempaa...Mutta onneksi tuo kuuri on jo finaalin puolella ja varoaikakin sallii ilmoitettuun näyttelyyn osallistumisen, joten uskon vakaasti että tilanne alkaa rauhoittua kohta puoleen.

Treenit on nyt jääneet hieman vähäisiksi, kiirettä on pitänyt töissä ja sen lisäksi töiden jälkeenkin. Noutokapulaa olen sentään muistanut näyttää Pallolle aina kun tulen kotiin. Se niin mielellään silloin ottaa jotain suuhunsa ja kantelee sitä ihan tohkeissaan. Kapulan antaminen kannettavaksi kotiin tullessa on selvästi tehnyt ihmeitä. Nyt jo kapula on yhdistynyt hauskaan tekemiseen ja väkisin pitäminen on toivottavasti unohtumassa. Tästä vinkistä suuri kiitos menee toko-ohjaaja Marille :D Pari päivää sitten Pallo jo ensimmäistä kertaa nosti maahan pudotetun kapulan ja antoi sen ihan käteen asti :D Paremmin tämä kapulan käsittely on lähtenyt etenemään tämän iloisen leikin kautta kuin luovutusta treenaamalla. Aikeissa on myös mennä cockeri ry:n mahdollistamaan sisätreeniin heti kun juoksu sen sallii. Saa nähdä kuinka käy kun häiriötreeni on ollut unohduksissa ainakin 5 viikkoa siinä vaiheessa mutta kun on mahdollisuus treenata sisällä niin täytyyhän sinne mennä vaikka vaan totuttelemaan yleiseen vilskeeseen ja harjoittelemaan rauhoittumista sekä leikkimistä häiriössä.

Pallon kanssa oltiin pitkästä aikaa endurokisoissa kannustamassa isäntää, vaikka isännällä onkin melko selvä johto tämän vuoden pokaalijahdissa. Noh, ensi vuonna sitten laitetaan viimeistään Pallon kanssa haisemaan :P Treeneissä on viimeaikoina keskitytty enemmän treenin laatuun, varsinkin seuraamisen kanssa (kiitoksen Kaisalle vinkeistä :P), ja lisäksi ohjaaja on yrittänyt keskittyä erityisesti palkkauksen oikea aikaisuuteen ja ettei palkkaa tipahda jokaisesta sinnepäin liikkeestä. Vaikka olenkin puolueellinen sanomaan niin jotenkin tuntuu että ainakin perusasennon ja seuraamisen paikka on nyt parempi, eikä sivulle tulossa enää tule poikitusta esille niin usein kuin ennen, joten ehkä tässä ollaan edetty askel eteenpäin tällä reseptillä. Seuraaminenkin on nyt paljon innokkaampaa, vaikka häiriön alla edelleen kontaktin kanssa on niin ja näin. Lisäksi paikallaan makuu on alkanut rakoilla :| Siinä olen nyt torstain tokotreeneissä palannut lähes alkuun, koska selkeästi se häiriön määrä siellä on tällä hetkellä meille liikaa. Mutta katsellaan, hitaasti hyvää tulee :D

Tosiaan, tänään oltiin sitten Mäntsälässä kisoja katsomassa ja siinä välillä käytin Palloa sänkipellolla irroittelemassa. Hauskaa näytti Pallolla riittävän sekä pellolla että kisapaikalla, mistä jäähallin vieressä löydettiin lunta :D Ja taas päivän päätteeksi mukana oli uusi pytty isännän kokoelmiin, jotenkin kirimistä riittää :P

Niinpä, eli juoksua edelleen odotellaan...milloinkas se oli, huhtikuussa kun kuvittelin sen olevan lähellä... Elämä on. Tosin nyt kahtena edellisenä tokotreenikertana ryhmämme urokset ovat olleet hieman poissa tolaltaan ja viimeksi olivat erityisen kiinnostuneita Pallon pissipaikoista, mutta edelleekään mitään vuotoa tai turvotusta ei ole havaittavissa. Vähän olen jo miettinyt että kuinka kauan kehtaan enää mennä treeneihin sotkemaan toisten treenikuviot, mutta toisaalta olen siellä itsekkin oppimassa ja Pallolle tekee erityisen hyvää käydä edes kerran viikossa harjoittelemassa kärsivällisyyttä koirien seassa. Joten kaiketi lakkaan nyt vaan murehtimasta muiden uroksia ja keskityn olennaiseen.

Eilen sitten iltalenkillä päätin kokeilla vesitreeniä :P Eli suomeksi tokotreeniä sateessa :D Sadetta kun on nyt viime päivinä piisannut ihan riittämiin. Olen hieman enemmän keskittynyt seuraamisen treenaamiseen viimeaikoina minkä lisäksi joka kerta olen treenannut jotain yksittäistä liikettä. Noh, vesitreenit oli mielenkiinoinen kokemus. Perusasentoa vähän haettiin, kun Pallo ei millään olisi halunnut istua märälle asfaltille. Kukapa haluaisi mutta positiivinen yllätys oli että perusseuraaminen ja käännökset menivät yllättävän hyvin kaikesta huolimatta. Edistämistä on kyllä edelleen havaittavissa kun toinen niin intopiukeana seuraa mutta olen yrittänyt karsia sitä pois palkkaamalla usein jotain taaksepäin heittämällä tai itse hidastamalla vauhtia. Vauhdin hidastus saa kyllä ihmeitä aikaan Pallon kohdalla, ja siitä voi sitten taas muuttaa oikeaan rytmiin. Täyskäännös tuottaa edelleen päänvaivaa, johtuen suurelta osalta siitä että en ole aivan saanut päätettyä kuinka päin se olisi paras tehdä. Mutta eilen koin loistavan oivalluksen, kun yllättäen olimme kentällä yksin ja päätin käyttää tennis/koripallokenttää treenaamiseen. Käyttäkää hyvät ihmiset hyväksi kentille maalattuja viivova :D Siinä koreografia on valmiina ja voi kokeilla vaikka ympyrässä seuraamista (koripallokentän viivoitus) tai pientä neliötä (tenniskentän viivoitus) :D Ei tarvitse miettiä enää muuta kun missä pysähtyy ja että onko koira oikeassa asennossa. Harmi vaan kun usein pouta säällä juuri nämä kentät ovat varattuina :P Eilen oli vuorossa myös luoksetulo, missä Pallolla ei onneksi vauhti lopu ikinä. Vielä kun saisi sen poikittamisen poistettua perusasentoon tultaessa niin hyvä olisi.

Mutta kaikkea pitää kokeilla ainakin kerran ja jos ei muuten niin siksi että tajusin mikä on Pallon suosikkipalkka nykyään, märkä villalapanen! Mikäs sen maukkaampi palkka voisi ollakkaan pikku-cockerin mielestä...tosin ihan ilomielin sitä märälle villalle haisevaa lapasta saikin kantaa, meikäläisestä se haju kun ei oikeasti ole mikään kovin miellyttävä :P

No niin, kaksi viikkoa on vierähtänyt meidän tokodepyytistä ja nyt kun on hieman sulatellut tapahtunutta, sitä jo pystyy tekemään jonkinlaisen yhteenvedon tapahtuneesta. Totuushan on se että ohjaajaa jännitti ihan hirmuisesti ja sen kyllä koirakin huomasi. En muista koskaan nähneeni Pallon hilseilevän samallalailla kuin Pihtiputaalla. Pakko on itse jotenkin tsempata jatkossa tuon asian suhteen. Mutta ekassa kokeessa se suotakoon. Nyt kun tietää kuvion ja tavan millä homma pyörii pystyy enemmän keskittymään omiin tekemisiin.

En ole aivan varma sainko leikitettyä Palloa tarpeeksi ennen kentälle menoa, jotenkin se kontaktin katoaminen heti seuraamisessa taluttimen kanssa oli niin selviö että epäilen tuon alun nostatuksen jääneen vähän puolitiehen. Outoa sinänsä on se että seuraaminen taluttimetta meni paremmin kuin taluttimen kanssa vaikka eihän sekään mikään huippusuoritus ollut. Mutta koira ei sentään karannut vaikka kontakti oli ajoittain hyvinkin tipotiessään :D Käytännössä tämä seuraamisen puuttuminen näkyi sitten kaikissa liikkeissä missä seuraamista oli mukana eli seisomaan ja makaamaan liikkeestä. Makaamaan liikkeestä kohdassa otin sitten tietoisen nollan kun koira edelleen seisoi kahden käskyn jälkeen, käskin kolmannen kerran koska nollahan se olisi ollut joka tapauksessa. Seisominen liikkeestä vaikeutui heti alkuunsa kun jouduin käskemään koiran kahdesti ensinnäkin mukaan.

Suurin yllätys edelleen on se että juuri ne liikkeet mitä pelkäsin, onnistui hyvin ja ne mitä pidin itsestään selvinä epäonnistui...asiaan vaikuttanee että juuri noita "epävarmoja" liikkeitä tuli intensiivitreenattua edellisellä viikolla ennen kisaa. Pitänee muistaa jatkossa että kertaus kaikilla osa-alueilla on suotavaa viimeisellä viikolla :) Mutta hyvä aloitus ja oma taso tuli testattua, mikä olikin pääasia. Pakko vaan treenata enemmän jatkossa häiriön kanssa, ei muu auta. Mutta sitä onneksi pääsee tekemään nyt joka torstai uuden tokotreeniryhmän kanssa ja vielä nurmipohjalla :P Himppasen erilainen alusta koirankin mielestä ja ennen kaikkea ekstra hajuja on joka kohdassa :P

Pallo did it :D She got her first CAC. She was the second best bitch (1 male + 5 females were attending) just after one Fin Ch bitch. Critiques in the results page.

We took part first time in obedience test and got 140 points, just gaining the 2nd prize in the beginners class. Points of each test part can be seen in the results page.

No niin, sinnittelin kunnioitettavat 8kk ilman suomenkieltä joten nyt voin jo luovuttaa :P Ainakin kuulumisien suhteen jatkan tod näk vastedes ihan perinteisesti på finska :D

Heti kotiin palattuamme Pallolla koitti paluu arkeen mutta tällä erää hieman erilainen sellainen. Nimittäin paluu arkeen tapahtui jääkauden merkeissä. Olin lomalla ilmoittanut meidät arkikäytöskouluun, lähinnä siis hain apua hihnassa tapahtuvaan nelivetovaihteen poistamiseen sekä tuohon Pallon pravuriin eli kentältä karkaamiseen. Yllättävää kyllä jääkausi sai ihmeitä aikaan noin ihan jo kotioloissa käyttäytymiseen. Turha höntyily yllättäen katosi ja koira muutoinkin tuntui rauhoittuvan. Toki varmasti lomalta paluu vaikutti myös osittain asiaan. No, joka tapauksessa epäilemäni "pissin hattuun nousu" oli Pallon kohdalla tapahtunut ja jääkausi sai sen palautumaan koiran asemaan perheessä ainakin edes hiukan. Viikon jääkauden päätteeksi käytännön harjoituksissa meille sitten opetettiin hihnatkeniikka jolla vetämistä saa hillityä ja hiukan saimme tuntumaa myös räminäpurkin käyttöön. Tämä yhdistelmä toimii ainakin meillä ja tätänykyä ohi tulevat koirat mennään pääsääntöisesti kiltisti ohi. Poikkeuksia tietysti on :P

Nyt sitten on taas tokotreenausta viritelty käyntiin, josko sitä uskaltaisi kokeisiin vielä jossain vaiheessa. Ainakin möllitokoon on mentävä jo tämän vuoden puolella ihan vain edes kokeilemaan miltä se koetilanne tuntuu. Huvin ja urheilun vuoksi tein eilen vielä yhden lyhyen verijäljen Pallolle. Se meni suhteellisen odotetunlaisesti; välillä ihan mallikkaasti, aika ajoin vähemmän mallikkaasti. Mutta kaikkea pitää kokeilla :D

It's been really busy few weeks but now summer holiday (:D :D) finally started, so I have some time to update. Last weekend Pallo was supposed to enter at last for a dog show in Tuusula but unfortunately she got ill during the trip to East Finland one week earlier so that didn't happen. Luckily she got better real quick after starting the medication. So during the summer holiday there might be a chance to see us somewhere in the shows after all :P We'll see.

So there probably won't be any updates during the next three weeks but after that I hopefully have some results to update here :P Happy summer everyone!!

Yesterday when mom Klara was gaining her INT CH title (congratulation again Riikka and Klara!!) Pallo's half sister was entertaining us here in Vantaa. I have to say that was one of the easiest days as a dog owner for me. Vappu and Pallo we playing and sleeping and doing everything together so I didn't have to do anything else than give more water for them :D Thank god we have reasonably big backyard so there is enough room for two dogs to run around. Last Thursday our obedience training course ended and at last lesson we had a kind of a practise test. Few parts went surprisingly well, others not that well :P Lying still for two minutes was one of the big successes. Although there were more distruction that was planned, Pallo stayed the whole time still although she was looking around all the time. Two minutes can be a long time to wait... Following with the lead was okey also, in spite of the turnaround but that was totally my fault. I didn't do the right "choreography" but now we are working on that.

But then the Pallo show started. Following without a lead... just wondering how come I didn't think the obvious but like I said, I didn't think and I took the lead off. So if there is no contact and the lead is off and there are other dogs on the otherside of the training field so what are the odds that Pallo will start just following me when I ask..? Well that was rhetorical question, no need to answer. So of course she took off, went straight to see the other dogs, run around and came back to me. Of course I didn't manage to catch her and she took off again. Went back to the other dogs and then...to the road :| Luckily there were no cars there at the time but when I finally got to the road I couldn't find her anywhere. It was quite hot day so guess where she was..swimming in the ditch by the road! What a brainstorm must have went through her mind before doing that. Well this time I caught her.

For the obvious reason I didn't want to try following without the lead again so we continued the test with standing and lying down from the movement and they went quite okey. Coming to me was kind of a disaster because this time I had a brainstorm and used wrong command. Last was the jump and it went okey. Overall I was kind of satisfied for the performance but of course the escape is really something which again reminded me of the last summers agility course and don't really motivate to go any soon to any real tests. But I don't know, perhaps the contact is just totally wrong between us so we need to go back to basics. Or maybe I just blame her name because after all it was a Great Escape :P

The obedience training course still continues for few weeks and I have to say I'm really satisfied with the course and everything we have learned already so far. Last two weeks I have intensively trained with Pallo stopping and jumping because those have been a little bit undertrained all the time. Also I should start concentraiting on the contact again because it is obvíous that when others are around the contact don't last as long as at home. So more distraction on the contact training. And what is it with the German shepherds :| That's the ultimate distraction. Pallo just looses everything if one of those shows nearby. Totally uncontrolable then. I just can't figure out where that comes from and what to do but for some reason she just can't stand them. Not even in a close distance. That is a bit of an problem because if some race, those you will most likely see in obedience tests.

I also did one tracking excersice for Pallo last week, only a short one with blood. It is a good sport for Pallo for now but she still need more practise before I'm convinced she actually knows what she is doing. But at least I have found good forest for that and also for walks. On Friday we were probing one of the area there with Sanni, Roosa and Mervi and we manage to do nice one and half hour walk with the dogs. So Jaana, now that I know the whole area you could come here with the boys again :P

And finally today after spending one day again as a gridgirl Pallo had a new haircut :P This time the real trimming was made by the breeder and the result was a bit more different than I have manage to do :P But she looks like a cocker spaniel again :D

Okey, I admit I have been a bit lazy to put any proper updates here but today I decided to change that. So there are updates not only here at news but little things also Who is Pallo and links pages. But the most important update is the offical hip result. Pallo has A hips :D which is fantastic news! So now there are 4 dogs hip-graded from this litter and all have A hips. Interesting to see what kind of blup-index Pallo will get now.

Also we started our obedience training last week. First time everything was again all new and exciting for Pallo and most of the time went trying to keep her calm and make her concentrate on things. Especially when we are not doing anything I wish she had a bit longer concentration so she wouldn't jump around while trying to listen new instructions. But at least when we are doing things she is enthusiastic to do everything. This week although it was raining a little bit during the training everything went better. Even the following what I have been suspecting to be too "wide" seems to be actually quite okei. At least last thursday it was :D Few pictures from obedience training from home below.

During past few weeks there has been two new health checks for Pallo. Her eyes were clinically tested clear (no HC-, PRA- tai RD-alterations) today and she was hip-scored three weeks ago. We are still expecting the offical results for hips but they should be just fine.

Because the heat just don't seem to get started we got some male company yesterday. All our cocker boyfriends from Hollola came to meet us and after long coffee break with Jaana we eventually took the dogs out althought the weather wasn't exactly perfect. But it was fun to meet you again and hopefully the "herkkupitko" was worth it :D

Okey, I shouldn't have said anything about the heat last week. Of course it hasn't started yet! So I'm guessing it will start exactly that week when our obedience training begins, like it did last autumn. But let's wait and see.

Otherwise this weekend has been just perfect for outdoors activities. So I went to watch groupshow to Sipoo and took lots of picture there. Maybe now I know how to use my camera in a way the pictures of dogs in motion also will be successful in the future. Few examples of these pictures in the gallery.

Lately we have been seeing new cocker spaniel friends who live nearby and also visited new dog parks. It's been fun to meet all and I'm hoping we could make it a regular event to meet up once in a while so our lop-ears can play around and have some fun.

I have also noticed that male dogs seems to be a bit too interested in Pallo so maybe the heat is starting soon (I'm counting on that it will start this week :P). That would be excatly like I hoped and calculated, and we wouldn't miss any courses and other plans because of it. But we'll see.

Last two weeks have been really quiet around here. Only thing is that I have started to remind Pallo of all the old obedience moves we practised last autumn. Some things goes still quite nicely some other not that well. But that was somehow expected after 4 months winter break. I didn't mean to keep that long break but somehow time went so quickly I didn't even realize it. But hopefully I manage to bring us back to the same level we were in the end of last year before our next obedience course starts in April.

But today we went to visit the Hollola gang (Nuuti, Veeti and Rolle plus special guest star Juli) once again because yesterday we noticed the long walks to be a bit boring by ourselves although the weather was perfect. So today the weather was still perfect and so was the company as everyone can see from the pictures :D

Unfortunately, today I had to take Klara back to Espoo although I would have gladly kept her here even longer. She and Pallo got along so well and obviously Pallo enjoyed having some company. Actually I didn't take her home, I dropped her to place where Pallo's brother Floyd lives. Vappu had been staying there and they both would be picked up home from there later in the evening. We took the dogs for a walk to the nearby fields before we said goodbye to Klara and left home with Pallo. It was nice meeting you, Floyd's gang, hope to see you soon again :D Later there will be more picture of Klara's visit in the gallery, but for now few pictures as a teaser below.
